Oleksandr Usyk discusses potential political career after boxing
The world champion in the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO heavyweight divisions, Oleksandr Usyk, shared his thoughts on a potential transition to politics after wrapping up his boxing career.
Direct quote: "I'm often offered to get into politics, but I don't feel ready for it. I don't see myself as a Ukrainian politician. I have my sports career, and I plan to stay in the big sport at least until I'm 40. Plus, I have projects aimed at developing sports in Ukraine, and they are important to me.
Minister of Sports? That's also politics, but of a slightly different kind. I once said I might consider such an option, but if I were offered this position tomorrow, I would decline. I'm not ready for it right now," Usyk stated.
Reminder: Previously, the WBO mandated Usyk to fight Joseph Parker. According to the organization's president, Gustavo Olivieri, the parties have 30 days to negotiate the date and terms of the bout.
