Rematch with Dubois postponed? WBO mandates Usyk to fight Parker
Oleksandr Usyk holds most of the heavyweight titles and could unify all the belts in a bout with Dubois, but that fight seems to be on hold.
Details: The WBO has mandated the Ukrainian boxer to face Joseph Parker. As WBO President Gustavo Olivieri stated, the parties have 30 days to negotiate the bout.
Quote: "The WBO officially orders a mandatory title defense between Usyk and Parker to eliminate the interim champion status. This aligns with our clear policy of having only one champion in each weight category," he declared.
It should be noted that Dubois withdrew from the fight with Parker two days before the bout due to a viral infection, and he was replaced by the Congolese Martin Bakole. Parker knocked out Bakole in the second round.
Reminder: The rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion could take place at London's Wembley Stadium.
