Old problems are returning. Two key Manchester United players injured
Many clubs are preparing for the upcoming season, and Manchester United is no exception. The team has traveled to the USA for a series of friendly matches.
Last night, United played a friendly against London’s Arsenal. The match was quite engaging, with Arsenal securing a come-from-behind 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli. Rasmus Højlund scored for the Red Devils at the start of the match.
However, the bad news for United did not end there. Just minutes after scoring, Højlund suffered an injury and was substituted by Hannibal Mejbri. Less than twenty minutes later, new signing Leny Yoro also sustained an injury and was replaced by Rhys Bennett.
It is currently known that the Danish player has a hamstring injury, while the Frenchman has an ankle injury. The recovery timelines for both players are still unknown, but it suggests that United might be facing recurring issues.
The Red Devils' poor performance last season was often attributed to the high number of injuries within the team. It is quite possible that this season could start similarly.
United's first official match of the next season is scheduled for August 10 against City for the English Super Cup. Given the current situation, if Højlund and Yoro are able to take the field, they may not be in top form.
