Ola Aina Credits Playful Atmosphere for Nottingham Forest’s Stunning Season
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has attributed Nottingham Forest’s impressive Premier League campaign to the positive and playful atmosphere within the squad.
Forest’s Dream Run
Nottingham Forest have been in outstanding form this season, currently sitting third in the Premier League with 51 points after 28 games. The Tricky Trees have taken points off top sides like Liverpool, Tottenham, and Manchester United. Most recently, they stunned reigning champions Manchester City with a 1-0 victory at the City Ground.
Aina, who has been a key component of Forest's defensive consistency, helped them win their most recent game by keeping City's explosive winger Jeremie Doku out of the game for the entire ninety minutes.
Team Chemistry and Focus
Speaking to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand after the game, Aina revealed that the team’s chemistry and fun-loving nature have been essential to their success.
“A group like us, we need it (the playful atmosphere); it keeps the positivity whether we get the results or not,” Aina said. “It keeps a positive mindset in and around the training ground and in the team. Callum Hudson-Odoi and I make sure that the energy is always high.”
Contract Situation
Despite his stellar performances, Aina’s future at Nottingham Forest remains uncertain. The Nigerian international’s contract expires at the end of the season, and while the club is keen to secure his long-term commitment, no agreement has been reached yet.
With Nottingham Forest pushing hard to retain him, Aina’s decision on his future is expected in the coming weeks.
