Manchester City have received a major injury blow just days before the start of their Premier League campaign.

Details: According to Nieuwsblad, Jérémy Doku has suffered a calf injury and will miss Manchester City's opening Premier League match against Bournemouth. The Belgian winger could be sidelined for several weeks, meaning his absence may extend well beyond the first round of the new season.

There is additional concern inside Manchester City because the latest setback may not be an isolated incident. Doku has already experienced calf problems before, and his physical condition will now be monitored closely as the club waits to establish a clearer recovery timeline.

The injury comes at an especially unfortunate moment for the 24-year-old, who recently committed his long-term future to the Citizens. Manchester City officially announced on August 13 that Doku had extended his contract until the summer of 2031. In the 2025/26 season, the Belgian made 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring 8 goals and providing 14 assists.
