OFFICIALLY. Inter announce the signing of Spanish goalkeeper
Inter Milan has officially announced the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Josep Martinez from Genoa. The 26-year-old goalkeeper has signed a five-year contract, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029.
The transfer fee has not been disclosed, but preliminary information suggested that Inter would pay around €13 million plus an additional €2 million in bonuses.
Josep Martinez played for Genoa for just one season. Last summer, he made a permanent move to Italy from RB Leipzig for €3.5 million after spending a year on loan with the Genoese team. During his time with Genoa, he made 36 appearances in Serie A, conceding 43 goals.
One of Inter's priorities was to sign a backup goalkeeper for Yann Sommer.
Earlier reports mentioned that Inter is set to make Simone Inzaghi the highest-paid coach in Serie A.
