The iconic Italian center-back, Leonardo Bonucci, has chosen to conclude his footballing career.
The player himself shared a video on his social media with the caption "19. Forever."
Leonardo Bonucci embarked on his career at Internazionale in 2005, spending the following seasons on loan at Treviso and Pisa. In 2009, he moved to Bari. His technique, playing abilities, and defensive qualities paved the way for Bonucci to move to Turin, specifically to Juventus, just a year later.
In due course, Bonucci became a pivotal player for the "Old Lady," forming one of the most reliable defensive lines in recent times alongside Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli, establishing himself as one of the finest defenders in world football.
Additionally, Bonucci participated in the UEFA Euro 2016 and the FIFA World Cups of 2010 and 2014. He was a silver medalist at the UEFA Euro 2012 and a bronze medalist at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013. He became a European champion in 2021 and holds the 4th place for most appearances for the Italian national team. At the professional level, he won 17 titles with clubs and one title at the national team level.
Once, Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho described his game:
"Bonucci and Chiellini... they could go to Harvard University to give lectures on how to be central defenders."
