Official: New Coach Announced to Replace Rúben Amorim at Sporting
As of November 11, Rúben Amorim has taken over as head coach of Manchester United. It has been revealed who will replace him at Sporting.
Details: Lisbon club Sporting officially announced that João Pereira, previously an assistant to Amorim, will take over as the new head coach.
During his playing career, Pereira represented Benfica, Braga, Trabzonspor, and Valencia, finishing his career at Sporting in 2021. That same year, he began his coaching career with the Lisbon club, and since 2023, João Pereira has served as Amorim's assistant.
João Pereira will make his debut as head coach on November 22 in the Portuguese Cup against Amarante.
Currently, Sporting sits at the top of the Primeira Liga table with 33 points from 11 matches, holding a six-point lead over second place.
Reminder: Sporting staged an incredible comeback in Amorim's last match, overturning a 0-2 deficit to win 4-2.
