Manchester United have finally got the midfielder they have been chasing for so long.

Details: Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Carlos Baleba from Brighton. The 22-year-old Cameroon international has completed his move to Old Trafford after the clubs reached an agreement worth £65 million guaranteed plus another £5 million in potential add-ons.

The total value of the transfer can therefore rise to £70 million. Brighton have also secured a sell-on clause, meaning the Seagulls could receive an additional payment if Manchester United eventually sell the midfielder for a profit.

Baleba has signed a five-year contract with Manchester United, keeping him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2031. British media also report that the agreement contains an option to extend the deal for one further season, potentially taking it through to 2032.

The midfielder began his football journey in Cameroon with Futur Soccer FC before developing at EF Brasseries du Cameroun. In January 2022, he moved to Lille, initially featuring for the French club's reserve side before breaking into the first team. He made 21 Ligue 1 appearances before leaving France.

In August 2023, Brighton signed Baleba from Lille. He went on to make 112 appearances for the Seagulls in all competitions before completing his move to Manchester United. It is also worth noting that Transfermarkt currently values the Cameroon midfielder at €55 million.
