Liverpool have officially confirmed the appointment of their new manager, who will aim to lead the team to new heights in the upcoming football season.
Details: The club has announced that Andoni Iraola has signed a contract and will become Liverpool’s new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season. The Spanish tactician has already arrived at the club to put pen to paper and kick off a new chapter in the history of Anfield.
Iraola himself did not hide his excitement after sealing the deal:
"I am very excited, truly excited. Obviously, everyone knows about Liverpool—it's a massive, magnificent club, one of the greatest in the world. But experiencing it from the inside and getting to know the club a little better, I was once again convinced that it is something special. You don’t need many reasons to become attached to Liverpool. Liverpool is Liverpool.”
The Spanish manager also emphasized that the ambitions of the Merseyside club and their fantastic fan base were key factors in his decision to join.
According to Iraola, the atmosphere, the supporters, the club itself, the opportunity to coach top-level players, and the chance to fight for prestigious trophies make this an extremely attractive challenge—one that is nearly impossible to find elsewhere in modern football. The coach added that he can’t wait to get started with the squad.
Reminder: Liverpool have found a replacement for Konaté. Illya Zabarnyi could be the one to fill the gap.
