Official: legendary coach appointed as Marseille manager

Marseille has officially announced the appointment of Bruno Génésio as the new head coach of the first team.
Details: The specialist took up his duties today, July 1, 2026.

It's worth noting that the 60-year-old coach boasts experience with Lyon, Beijing Guoan, Rennes, and Lille, with whom he finished last season on the podium. In total, the manager has overseen 300 Ligue 1 matches and 79 European fixtures.
Club chairman Stéphane Richard and sporting director Grégory Lorenzi emphasized that Génésio's football vision and ambitions are perfectly aligned with Marseille's development strategy. The coach himself admitted he was immediately inspired by the challenge:
“I chose Olympique de Marseille because I was captivated by this project. This is a unique club with an exceptional history, a strong identity, and passionate supporters.”
Both parties have already begun close cooperation to shape the new squad.
