Official: Leeds smash club record to sign Man City goalkeeper

Details: Leeds United have officially announced the transfer of Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford for £45 million. The 23-year-old England international has penned a long-term contract until 2031, becoming the club’s record signing and also breaking the British goalkeeper transfer record previously held by Jordan Pickford (£30 million since 2017).
For Trafford, this transfer is a golden opportunity to finally get regular first-team football: just a year ago he returned to City from Burnley for €31 million but lost the starting spot to Gianluigi Donnarumma, who arrived later, featuring in only 17 matches last season. Leeds had been searching for a new No.1 after Karl Darlow’s move to Manchester United and beat out Newcastle in the race for the Englishman, with the Magpies eventually pulling out. Trafford becomes Leeds’ third summer signing after Tarik Muharemovic and Harry Wilson.
