Official: Juventus unveil towering German striker on deadline night
Juventus have officially completed their second Premier League raid of deadline day: German striker Nick Woltemade is now a Bianconeri player.
Details: The Turin club confirmed the signing through their official channels. According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus will pay Newcastle a loan fee of £3.5 million, just over €4 million, with no option or obligation to buy. Woltemade is therefore due to return to St James' Park next summer regardless of how his season in Italy unfolds.
The 24 year old arrives in Turin as a reset after a record move that never quite took off in England. Newcastle signed him from Stuttgart in August 2025 for a club record package of around £69 million on a contract until 2031, and he responded with 11 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions, including 8 goals and 4 assists in 34 Premier League matches. This season, however, he played just 19 minutes in the league opener and slipped down the pecking order. Luciano Spalletti needed a new option up front after Jonathan David left for Atletico Madrid on loan with a €25 million buy option, and the 1.98m Germany international, who has 12 caps and 4 goals, convinced the coach in direct talks. For Newcastle, a dry loan eases the wage bill without selling a player they still value at €55 million on Transfermarkt.
It's worth noting that Woltemade is not the only deadline day arrival in Turin: Juventus had already officially unveiled Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr earlier in the day, giving Spalletti two new Premier League faces in a matter of hours.
