Official: Juventus unveil Premier League midfield star on deadline day
Juventus have delivered one of the loudest statements of this deadline day, officially announcing the arrival of Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr.
Details: The Turin giants confirmed the transfer through their official channels, welcoming the Senegalese international. According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus will pay a €2 million loan fee, with a buy option set at €28 million that becomes an obligation if the Bianconeri qualify for the Champions League or Europa League and Sarr features in 50% of the matches. The total package is valued at around €30 million.
The 23 year old leaves North London after five years: Spurs signed him from Metz in August 2021 for around €17 million and loaned him straight back to France for one more season. In London, Sarr grew from a rough diamond into a proven Premier League midfielder, making 141 appearances and scoring 11 goals in all competitions, with 37 matches, two goals and four assists last season alone. The Senegalese pushed hard for this move: he agreed personal terms with Juventus several days ago and, as Roberto De Zerbi admitted, had asked to leave Tottenham despite a contract running until 2030. The Bianconeri moved decisively after their deal for Franck Kessié collapsed, and Sarr landed in Turin on Monday to complete his medical. He becomes a major midfield reinforcement for Luciano Spalletti, arriving in Italy with a serious pedigree: earlier this year he became a two time Africa Cup of Nations champion with Senegal.
It's worth noting that Sarr is not the only deadline day coup in Turin: Juventus are also finalizing a loan for Newcastle striker Nick Woltemade, while Jonathan David has left to join Atletico Madrid on loan with a €25 million buy option.
