The crisis surrounding Gianni Infantino will not end with his resignation—at least for now.

Details: FIFA has officially announced that Secretary General Mattias Grafström and attending members of the Management Board have confirmed their full support for Gianni Infantino. As a result, the Swiss executive will remain president of the organization.

This decision was made following a crisis meeting of FIFA’s leadership in Rabat, where the fallout from the already withdrawn FIFA Forward Enterprise project was discussed.

Organization representatives admitted to errors made during the preparation and review of the initiative. FIFA also sent a letter of apology to Council members and national associations, promising to conduct an internal review and present the results at the next meeting.

Infantino himself responded by expressing his full support for Mattias Grafström and the FIFA administration, thanking them for their work on implementing his vision for the organization’s development.

It’s worth noting that Gianni Infantino has been at the helm of FIFA since February 2016 and intends to run for another presidential term in 2027.

Reminder: Last dance for Gianni? Infantino calls urgent council in Morocco.
