Official! Former Manchester United defender makes MLS move
Tyrell Malacia is ready for a fresh start across the Atlantic after ending his four-year spell at Manchester United.
Details: MLS club FC Cincinnati have officially announced the signing of 27-year-old Dutch defender Tyrell Malacia, who joins the American side as a free agent following his departure from Manchester United. The left-back has signed a contract running until June 2027, with an option to extend the agreement for the 2027/28 MLS season.
Malacia joined Manchester United from Feyenoord in the summer of 2022. During his four years at Old Trafford, the Dutchman made 50 appearances for the Red Devils, including 39 matches in his debut campaign.
However, a serious knee injury disrupted the defender's career in England. After missing the entire 2023/24 season, Malacia eventually returned to action and spent part of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at PSV Eindhoven. He subsequently left Manchester United in the summer of 2026 after his contract expired.
It is worth noting that Malacia has earned nine senior international caps for the Netherlands and was part of the national team's squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The defender also won the English League Cup with Manchester United in the 2022/23 season.
