Former Manchester United full-back Tyrell Malacia has found an unexpected continuation of his career across the Atlantic.

Details: 27-year-old Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia is on the verge of signing a contract with MLS club Cincinnati. The former Manchester United player has already joined the team’s training sessions as he looks to regain his best form after a difficult spell in England.

The Dutchman left Old Trafford as a free agent after his contract expired. Napoli of Italy and Scottish side Celtic had previously shown interest in the defender, but a concrete offer from the United States and the opportunity to secure a guaranteed starting spot prompted the player to choose the North American league.

Tyrell Malacia joined Manchester United from Feyenoord in the summer of 2022, making 39 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions and winning the English League Cup. A lengthy rehabilitation process following a series of serious knee injuries stalled the defender’s progress in England, but his nine appearances for the Netherlands national team underline the 27-year-old’s high international class.
