Official! Barcelona sign a new goalkeeper
Barcelona are already preparing for life in goal after Wojciech Szczesny.
Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have signed all the documents to complete the transfer of Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic from Fenerbahce. The Turkish club will receive €2 million guaranteed, while another €2 million could be paid in bonuses.
The Catalan club's plan is not necessarily to keep Livakovic in Hansi Flick's squad immediately. Barcelona are looking for a suitable loan move for the Croatian goalkeeper for the current season, which would allow him to get regular playing time before returning to Catalonia.
The long-term plan is much clearer. Livakovic is expected to become Barcelona's backup goalkeeper from June 2027, when Szczesny's current contract expires. The Polish goalkeeper is officially tied to the Catalan club until June 30, 2027.
Barcelona currently have Joan Garcia and Szczesny listed as the two goalkeepers in the first-team squad, so another temporary move for Livakovic would help the club avoid overcrowding the position while keeping an experienced option for the following campaign.
It is worth noting that Livakovic is valued at €4 million by Transfermarkt. During the 2025/26 season, the 31-year-old goalkeeper spent part of the campaign on loan at Dinamo Zagreb and made 14 appearances in the Croatian league.
Reminder: Boom! Barcelona star set to join another La Liga club
