Official: Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will not take place in April due to Middle East situation
The Formula 1 calendar for the 2026 season has undergone significant changes.
Details: The championship management has officially confirmed that the scheduled April rounds in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will not take place. The reason is the unstable and escalating situation in the Middle East region, which makes it impossible to guarantee the safety of participants and spectators.
Together with Formula 1, all support races for the junior categories—Formula 2 and Formula 3—as well as the F1 Academy women's series rounds have also been cancelled. This means the entire race weekend in both countries has been completely wiped from the schedule.
It is reported that organizers considered various alternative options for holding the races on these dates, but ultimately decided not to seek replacements for the cancelled April rounds. As a result, fans can expect an unexpectedly long break in the middle of spring, and the championship will miss out on two crucial races.
Thus, after the Japanese Grand Prix in March, the next race will take place in May—in Miami.
