Official! Argentina national team star moves to Serie A

Roma have officially strengthened their defence with another Argentina international.

Details: Roma have officially announced the signing of Leonardo Balerdi from Marseille. The 27-year-old centre-back has completed his move to the Italian capital after the clubs reached an agreement over his departure from the French side.

According to Roma's official announcement, Balerdi has joined on an initial loan deal that includes an option to make the transfer permanent. The Giallorossi did not disclose the financial details of the agreement in their statement.

The move was formally completed after the Argentine arrived in Rome and went through the final procedures required for the transfer. Roma have now confirmed the deal themselves, bringing an end to the negotiations surrounding the centre-back's future.

Balerdi already has considerable experience at European level. The defender has made more than 200 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and Marseille, while he has also collected 11 senior caps for the Argentina national team. At Roma, the newcomer has chosen the No.26 shirt.

It is worth noting that Balerdi made 36 appearances for Marseille in all competitions during the 2025/26 season, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Transfermarkt's latest valuation puts the Argentine defender at €18 million.
