Just yesterday, the 28-year-old successfully completed his medical in Madrid, leaving only the final formalities to wrap up the deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Atlético will pay €40 million plus add-ons for the defender. In addition, Tottenham will receive 15% of any future sale of the player.
Romero departs the London club after five seasons. During his spell with Spurs, the Argentine made 124 appearances and helped the team capture the Europa League title in 2025.
It’s worth noting that Romero is a 2022 World Cup champion and a two-time Copa América winner with Argentina.
Reminder: Simeone's dream comes true! Cuti Romero passes medical at Atlético.
