Qatari side Al-Sadd currently sit mid-table in the Qatar Stars League — a disappointing position considering they’ve won the last two league titles.
Details: The club’s management decided to make a change on the bench and have now appointed a top-class coach. Italian manager Roberto Mancini has been named the new head coach, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Until now, Al-Sadd had been led by interim head coach Sergio Alegre, a 48-year-old Spaniard. Mancini’s most recent role was as head coach of the Saudi Arabian national team, which he left in October 2024.
Reminder: The Qatari club also recently announced the full transfer of 33-year-old striker Roberto Firmino from Al-Ahli.
