Number revealed: how many subscribers Ligue 1 must reach to avoid a drop in broadcast rights value
Ligue 1 is already planning for next season, including the crucial question of how many viewers are required to ensure the value of broadcast rights does not decline.
Details: According to Vincent Chaudel, founder of the Sports Business Observatory, speaking to L'Équipe, Ligue 1 must reach more than two million subscribers next season to avoid financial losses.
Quote: "More than 2 million subscribers are needed. That’s obvious. For example, Amazon had 1.5 million subscribers. That means you have to achieve better results than Amazon. But when you were operating with Amazon, it wasn’t just football. You had Amazon Prime… That’s where the difficulty lies," Chaudel stated.
Meanwhile, a high-profile and controversial legal battle between French club Nantes and Welsh side Cardiff, concerning the transfer of the late forward Emiliano Sala, has recently concluded.
Reminder: The Professional Football League decided to support PSG by rescheduling their match against Lens. Lens opposed the decision, but the fixture will not take place as originally planned.
