NPFL: Wikki Tourists Coach Bashir Saleh Laments Poor Finishing After Narrow Loss to Rivers United
Wikki Tourists head coach, Bashir Saleh, has identified lack of clinical finishing as the major factor behind his team’s disappointing run of results, following their 1–0 defeat to Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The Bauchi Elephants matched their hosts for large spells of the game and created several scoring opportunities, but were unable to find the back of the net. The missed chances proved costly as Rivers United narrowly won the encounter to claim all three points.
Speaking after the match, Saleh admitted that his team’s inability to convert goal-scoring opportunities has been a recurring issue throughout the season.
“We created enough chances to get something from this game, but our problem has been finishing. The technical crew is working hard to address this, and we believe improvements will come soon,” the coach said.
Wikki Tourists will now look ahead to their next fixture as they return to Bauchi for a home clash against Kun Khalifa FC next weekend. The defeat leaves Wikki Tourists without a win in their last four matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), increasing pressure on the Bauchi-based side to bounce back in front of their fans.
