NPFL: Warri Wolves Coach Blames Red Card and Injury for Draw Against Bendel Insurance
Warri Wolves head coach Hassan Abdallah has attributed his team’s goalless draw against Bendel Insurance to a red card and a crucial injury during their South-South derby clash.
The NPFL encounter ended 0-0, leaving Warri Wolves in 11th position on the table with 40 points, with seven matches remaining this season.
Speaking after the game, Abdallah explained that his side had been in control and pushing for a goal before circumstances forced a tactical shift. He pointed to the sending off of right-back Ayinla Olayemi as a turning point in the match.
“From the first half to the second half, we were playing very well and pushing for a goal until sudden things happened, which I know are part of football,” Abdallah said when asked why he switched to defensive tactics late in the game.
“First was the red card to Ayinla Olayemi, our right-back. Second was the injury to Chukwuemeka Kalu, who picked up a knee injury, which reduced us to 10 men because we had already completed our substitutions. “So, we had no option but to become defensive, at least to ensure we picked a point from the game.”
