NPFL: Rangers Coach Ilechukwu Debunks Claims of Backroom Staff Crisis
The head coach of Rangers International Club of Enugu, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has debunked claims that he has lost control of his backroom staff and that his future with the club is in doubt. The former MFM boss made this known in his pre-match conference ahead of the game against Bayelsa United in Enugu. He reaffirmed the coaching crew's commitment to taking the team to the next level. Ilechukwu fully backed chief coach Ekenederichukwu Eke, who routinely leads the team during his Super Eagles national duty. He dismissed job security rumours, affirming his commitment to Rangers and his professional record.
“My assistants are like family. We eat together, work together, and support one another. People outside may misunderstand things, but inside we are completely united,” he said.
“In my absence, my assistant can take charge and win matches. That is what good leadership is. Training people to step up when you are not there.
“All those stories are untrue. It is not possible. I have a contract with Rangers. In every club I have worked, I always finish my contract. I have never been sacked,” he added.
The Enugu-based club have now moved to 4th on the table after defeating Bayelsa United 4-1 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday. They are with 25 points in 16 games.
