NPFL: Katsina United Coach Mohammed Azeez Defends Ilorin Pitch After Tobi Adepoju’s Criticism
Katsina United head coach Mohammed Azeez has responded to the criticism made by Shooting Stars Sporting Director Tobi Adepoju regarding the condition of the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl pitch in Ilorin.
Adepoju recently took to X to accuse NPFL Chairman Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye of approving substandard stadiums with poor playing surfaces for league matches. He also claimed that Shooting Stars players had suffered injuries as a result of playing on these pitches.
Speaking to the club’s media team, Azeez dismissed the concerns, insisting that the pitch condition is not an issue for his team.
"There is nothing wrong with the pitch. Whether I win, lose or draw, I cannot blame the pitch because it has no issue."
Katsina United recently played Enyimba at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl, securing an impressive 3-2 victory. They will now shift their focus to their next assignment as they travel to Yenegoa to face Bayelsa United.
