NPFL: Barau FC Coach Eugene Agagbe Takes Responsibility for Rangers Draw
Barau FC coach Eugene Agagbe took full responsibility after his team conceded a late equaliser to draw 2-2 with Rangers International in their NPFL Matchday 8 encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.
Barau had fought back from a goal down to lead 2-1 and looked on course for victory, but Rangers captain Chidiebere Nwobodo scored in stoppage time to snatch a point for the champions.
Speaking after the game, Agagbe described it as a bad day for his side but urged them to move on.
“Well, first of all, I thank God Almighty for the result. You can look at the game, and you will see that it was kind of a bad day for Baruwa FC, but we have to move forward because this one is played and gone. We cannot do anything about it. We need to work and work hard so that we will do better in our next game that is coming up.”
The coach refused to blame his players for the late collapse and instead shouldered the blame himself.
"I don't like blaming my players in this type of situation because, as a coach, you need to take responsibility for every result you have gotten. So, I take responsibility for my draw today, and we will work much harder to get it right where there are errors. We will amend them in our next game,” he added.
Barau will now shift focus to their next tough test away to Rivers United.
