NPFL 2026/27: Matchday One Results as Shooting Stars, Doma United and Ikorodu City Win

The 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season got off to an exciting start as clubs across the country battled for early points on Matchday One.

Shooting Stars kicked off the weekend in winning fashion on Friday, beating newly promoted Inter Lagos 2-1 at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

Doma United also enjoyed a strong start, defeating Sporting Lagos 2-0 in Gombe. In Lagos, Ikorodu City claimed a 3-1 victory over fellow promoted side Ranchers Bees, while Rivers United secured a 2-0 win against Plateau United in Port Harcourt.

There were also plenty of goals across the opening round, with Niger Tornadoes beating Enyimba 2-1 and Bendel Insurance edging Warri Wolves by the same scoreline.
