The Spain national team began the 2026 World Cup with a match against Cape Verde, and one of the Spanish players recorded an unfavourable statistic.

Details: according to WhoScored, Spanish midfielder Pedri made 21 inaccurate forward passes in this game. This is currently the worst figure among all players in matches at the 2026 World Cup.

Incidentally, since 2010 Spain have won only three matches at the FIFA World Cup. They defeated Australia in 2014, beat Iran in 2018, and thrashed Costa Rica in 2022.

Meanwhile, Cape Verde committed just one foul during the match against Spain. It is the fewest fouls recorded by any team in a FIFA World Cup match since 1966, when full tournament broadcasts first became available.
