Not Usyk. Wilder's next opponent named—a legendary boxer steps up
Frank Warren’s promotional company, Queensberry Promotions, has officially confirmed the date and venue for the heavyweight mega-fight.
Details: The bout between British veteran Derek Chisora and American knockout artist Deontay Wilder will take place on April 4 at the iconic O2 Arena in London. The global streaming service DAZN will provide live coverage of the fight night.
“WAR mode activated,” Queensberry’s press service posted concisely on their social media accounts in response to the announcement.
This clash will mark the 50th professional fight for the 42-year-old Chisora—a career milestone. The Briton previously hinted that this round number could mark the end of his long journey in the ring, adding extra drama to the occasion.
The announcement of this bout caught many off guard, as recent weeks were filled with speculation about a possible Wilder showdown with Oleksandr Usyk. The Ukrainian champion personally promoted the idea, and Wilder had expressed his readiness for the challenge. However, it appears the camps failed to reach an agreement on financial or organizational terms, leading Wilder to pivot toward a London showdown with Chisora instead.
Reminder: Former Real Madrid and Spain footballer Sergio Ramos is set to face Andrew Tate in the ring.
