The coming days will be crucial for Mario Balotelli, who must decide whether he wants to stay at Genoa for at least another six months or part ways with the club this winter. Balotelli hasn’t been getting much playing time under head coach Patrick Vieira.

Details. Balotelli’s contract with Genoa includes a clause that allows either party to terminate the agreement before its expiration. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Balotelli is unsure whether he should accept the role of a backup player until June of next year.

The publication also added that Mexican club Cruz Azul may show interest in the player, offering the Italian forward a contract worth 2 million euros per year. The club would like to keep Balotelli until next summer, but his limited playing time could prompt him to make a different decision.

Reminder. Mario Balotelli has played only 56 minutes in Serie A, coming on as a substitute six times since joining the team in late October. The return of Caleb Ekuban and Jeff Ekhoua from injuries could further complicate the forward's chances of getting playing time.
