"Not about profit": Aleksander Čeferin explains UEFA's tournament objectives
UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has shed light on the mission and goals of the tournaments organized under UEFA's auspices, emphasizing the organization's non-profit approach.
Details: According to UEFA, Čeferin stated that the primary tournaments are not designed to generate profit. Instead, they focus on solidarity, revenue redistribution, and development.
Quote: "UEFA is not about profit. We redistribute 97% of our net income back into football. Yes, 97%. The remaining 3% is used to cover costs and support critical areas of our sport—women’s football, youth football, and futsal. And when we earn more, we give more. Who else does this?" Čeferin emphasized.
He further explained that these are not expenses but investments in the game, in people, and in communities. He also highlighted that these investments serve public interests.
Reminder: The Super League project, though less prominent in the media recently, remains alive. One of its initiators, Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez, recently described it as a revolution in European football. Čeferin indirectly responded to Pérez, reiterating UEFA's commitment to its current model.
