"Nobody wants to have a trophyless year". Neuer spoke about Bayern's goals for the season

Experienced Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has shared the team's goals for the 2024/25 season.

"No one wants to go through a season without trophies, especially at Bayern. We are highly motivated. We've faced this before, at least Thomas [Müller] and I have. In 2012, we also ended the season without trophies. We lost the Champions League final, finished second in the league, and lost the cup final to Dortmund. That year, the national team also lost in the Euro semifinals to Italy.

It was a very disappointing year, but we found motivation in those defeats and channeled it into preseason and the next season, where we won the treble in 2013. That's our main goal, but we really need to work hard for it. We need to grow together as a team and give our all on the field.

We have a new team, both on and off the pitch, bringing fresh blood and new energy. We want to reach for the stars," the goalkeeper was quoted as saying by Bayern's official website.

Yesterday, Neuer officially announced his retirement from the German national team.

Bayern will kick off the new season this Sunday, August 25, with a match against Wolfsburg.
