No surprises. The first women's Roland Garros semifinal pairing revealed
The French Open tennis championship is in full swing. In the women's draw, the endgame is approaching, and the first semifinal pair has been set.
Details: The first semifinalist is "neutral" Aryna Sabalenka, who faced little resistance from American Amanda Anisimova in the quarterfinals. Anisimova tried to challenge the world No. 1, but Sabalenka ultimately secured a straight-sets victory, 2-0 (7-5, 6-3).
In the second quarterfinal, Ukrainian Elina Svitolina took on Poland's Iga Swiatek. Swiatek convincingly claimed the opening set 6-1, but had to dig deep in the second. The Pole prevailed 7-5 to book her place in the semifinals, where she'll face Sabalenka for a spot in the Roland Garros final.
Reminder: The second semifinal pairing will be determined in matches between Mirra Andreeva and the tournament's main sensation, Louie Boisson, as well as in the all-American clash between Madison Keys and Coco Gauff.
