London's Chelsea have indeed won the race for Ipswich forward Liam Delap, making him the latest addition to the Blues. Head coach Enzo Maresca has no doubts about the abilities of his new signing.
Details: Maresca recalled his words from last season, when, ahead of a match against Ipswich, he stated that Delap had a real chance to become England's main striker. Now, he's reaffirmed that belief.
Quote: "Before the match against Ipswich last season, I said that, in my opinion, he could become England's number nine, even though he wasn't with us back then. Now he's here, and I'll say it again: I have no doubt that in the future he will become England's number nine.
Liam also understands very well how important the number nine is for this club. We've known each other for many years, so I know what Liam can offer us, and he knows what we can offer him to help him improve and become the best player he can be. As for the number nine role, I hope he can score goals for us," Maresca stated.
