Rivalry for Nigeria. DR Congo becomes AFCON's second semi-finalist
The second quarter-final match of the African Cup of Nations took place on Friday, February 2nd, between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Guinea.
In the first half, Guinea took the lead, with Mohamed Bayo scoring from the penalty spot in the 20th minute. However, seven minutes later, DRC leveled the score as Chancel Mbemba found the back of the net. The first half concluded with a 1-1 draw.
In the second half, Guinea maintained more possession, while DRC sought to counter-attack. In the 65th minute, Yoane Wissa converted another penalty, putting DRC in the lead. They defended well and secured another goal as Arthur Masuaku scored in the 82nd minute, sealing a 3-1 victory.
The Democratic Republic of Congo emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline, securing a spot in the semi-finals. They will face Nigeria in the next round.
