Nigerian football legend made interim head coach of the national team
At the meeting of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), a decision regarding who will be the head coach of the Nigerian national team in the upcoming friendly matches against Ghana and Mali was made.
For these games, the team will be prepared by Nigerian football legend Finidi George, who is currently the head coach of Nigeria's champions, Enyimba.
However, George will only serve as the interim head coach of the national team temporarily.
Recall that the previous head coach of the Nigerian national team was Portuguese José Peseiro, whose contract ended after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the "Super Eagles" lost to Ivory Coast in the final (1-2).
Finidi George played 45 matches for the Nigerian national team and scored 8 goals. At the club level, he played for Mallorca, Betis, Ipswich, and Ajax, with whom he won the UEFA Champions League in 1994/95.
