Nigeria narrowly defeats Angola and advances to the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations
On Friday, February 2nd, the semi-final matches of the African Cup of Nations commenced. Nigeria faced Angola.
In the first half, Nigerians had more ball possession, but overall, the game was evenly contested. Only towards the end of the first half did Nigeria manage to take the lead. Ademola Lookman scored in the 41st minute, concluding the first half with a 1-0 advantage for Nigeria.
In the second half, Nigeria relinquished possession to Angola and adopted a counter-attacking style. In the 75th minute, Victor Osimhen seemingly doubled Nigeria's lead. However, after a VAR review, the referees decided to disallow the goal. Ultimately, this did not hinder the Nigerian team from securing a narrow 1-0 victory, making them the first semi-finalist of the African Cup of Nations.
