Nice issues statement after ultras attack Moffi and Boga https://x.com/iciazur/status/1995273627793543553?s=20

The scandal surrounding Nice is rapidly escalating after team players became victims of an attack by the club's ultras. Immediately after the match, a group of aggressively-minded ultras assaulted the club's footballers, leading to serious consequences. Nice players have officially condemned the violence and the actions of the fans by releasing a collective statement.

Details: According to the statement, several players and club staff were direct victims of physical attacks—kicked and punched—as well as subjected to harsh insults. Among those affected were Florian Maurice, Terem Moffi, Jérémie Boga, and Jonathan Clauss, who were effectively held in circumstances described by the players as unacceptable and akin to a hostage situation.

Two of them are still suffering from serious physical and psychological consequences, making their swift return to the pitch impossible. The players emphasize that many of the attackers were masked—individuals who are legally banned from attending mass events. Despite this, the police neither dispersed the crowd nor made any arrests.

The footballers criticized management and security services for systemic failures in matchday security:

“The measures taken were clearly insufficient to guarantee the safety of players, staff, and all participants in the match.”

In closing, the players expressed solidarity with Moffi, Boga, Clauss, and Maurice:

“The entire squad stands united alongside our teammates who are suffering through these events.”

Reminder: The Nice ultras deny any violence against the club's players.
