Neymar sidelined. The Brazilian star to miss upcoming Série A match – here's why
Santos fans won’t see Neymar in action this Sunday as their team takes on Cruzeiro.
Details: According to Lucas Musetti, the team’s talisman will definitely miss the fixture, but there’s no reason for supporters to panic—this isn’t a new injury, but rather a smart move to manage his workload.
Santos’s head coach confirmed that the 34-year-old forward is in perfect health. The decision to leave him out of the squad comes from the medical team as part of their load management program. This would have been Neymar’s third match in seven days, and the club isn’t willing to gamble with the condition of their most valuable asset.
“Neymar isn’t injured. We simply want to give him some rest given the tight schedule. Player health is our top priority,” said the Santos manager.
Since his return to his boyhood club, Neymar has been under close medical supervision. Considering his recent comments about a possible retirement, Santos is doing everything possible to prolong their striker’s career by limiting his minutes in less critical fixtures.
It’s worth noting that the Brazilian has made five appearances for Santos this season, already notching three goals and providing two assists.
Reminder: The legendary Cafu claimed that Neymar is better than Messi.
