Newcastle set sights on genius scout who discovered Haaland and Bellingham
Newcastle have kicked off a rebuild not just on the pitch, but in the front office as well.
Details: According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle are showing serious interest in Borussia Dortmund’s chief scout Sebastian Krug. The 43-year-old talent spotter is also being closely monitored by several other Premier League and European clubs.

Sebastian Krug stands as a pivotal figure in Dortmund’s transfer machine: he was instrumental in the signings of Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham, who later exploded onto the global football scene. The German specialist has been a core part of Borussia’s scouting setup since 2022.
Newcastle’s interest makes perfect sense: this summer, head of recruitment Steve Nickson left for Wrexham, and a new head coach, Matthias Jaissle, is now at the helm. The Magpies are in the midst of a sweeping overhaul after selling Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali, and Bruno Guimarães, and will kick off the new Premier League season on August 23 with a home clash against Liverpool.
It’s worth noting that Krug himself used to play as a central defender in Germany’s lower leagues, and he started tracking Bellingham when the Englishman was just 14 years old.
Reminder: Newcastle leader makes decision about his future!
