Newcastle continues its battle for the UEFA Champions League and European competitions in general, but is already planning to strengthen its defense for the next season.

Details: According to Martin Hardy from The Times, the "Magpies" are considering two candidates for the center-back position — Jarell Quansah and Dean Heysen. The Liverpool defender is on Newcastle's list, but there have been no negotiations yet. In the case of Bournemouth's Spanish defender, the club believes that securing his transfer will be extremely difficult.

Currently, Newcastle is in sixth place in the Premier League table. After 28 rounds, the team has accumulated 47 points, trailing two points behind fourth place and one point behind fifth.

It was previously reported that Newcastle suspended negotiations with Alexander Isak as the player rejected the latest contract offers. The club is now evaluating its next steps.

Reminder: Newcastle defeated Liverpool at Wembley, winning the English League Cup — the club's first in history. This trophy also marked the "Magpies'" first in England in 70 years.
