Today in New Zealand, the semifinal matches of the 2026 World Cup qualification in the Oceania zone took place. As a result, the teams that will face each other for a spot in the World Cup have been determined.

Details: In the first game, New Caledonia faced Tahiti and managed to secure a 3-0 victory.

The second game had even less intrigue. New Zealand comfortably thrashed Fiji with a 7-0 score, netting 4 goals before halftime.

The decisive match between New Zealand and New Caledonia will take place on March 24 in Auckland.

Due to the expansion of World Cup participants, Oceania has, for the first time in history, 1 direct spot in the tournament. The team that loses in the final will compete in a playoff for a World Cup spot against the team finishing seventh in the CONMEBOL zone.

New Zealand has previously reached the World Cup finals twice, while New Caledonia has never played at this level.
