Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has announced that he does not plan to return to the German national team despite the severe injury to fellow German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen. The Barcelona keeper has sustained a serious injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the season.

Quote: "I left the national team by my own choice. After his surgery, I sent Marc a voice message. He’s holding up well, considering the circumstances. I fully understand what he's going through after such an injury, and I’m confident that Marc will handle it," said Neuer in an interview with Sky Sport.

Recall: For many years, ter Stegen competed with Neuer for the starting goalkeeper spot in the German national team. After Euro 2024, where Neuer was the first-choice keeper, he announced his decision to retire from international football and focus on his club career.
