Experienced Burnley and Netherlands national team forward Wout Weghorst will change clubs on a permanent basis this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 31-year-old striker will return to the Dutch league and join Ajax. Negotiations between the Amsterdam club and the player are advanced, but Ajax still needs to agree on the final transfer fee with Burnley.

However, Ajax is fully confident that they will officially finalize this deal soon.

Last season, Weghorst was on loan at Hoffenheim, where he scored 7 goals in 28 Bundesliga matches. Besides Burnley, he has also played for Manchester United, Beşiktaş, and Wolfsburg. In his homeland, Weghorst previously played for AZ Alkmaar, Heracles, and Emmen.

Weghorst traveled with the Netherlands national team to Euro 2024. In the match against Poland (2-1), he came on as a substitute and scored the winning goal.
