Netflix aims to acquire broadcasting rights for the English Premier League
The English Premier League is the most sought-after competition for football fans and broadcasters alike. And now one of the world’s major streaming platforms is looking to secure its broadcasting rights.
Details: According to The Times, Netflix is preparing to compete for Premier League broadcasting rights. The company took notice after its rival, Paramount, won the tender for UEFA Champions League coverage and now hopes to gain a foothold in English football.
At present, domestic Premier League rights belong to Sky and TNT Sports, whose contracts run until 2029. NBC holds the US broadcasting rights until 2028, and new tenders will open for bidding over the next year.
Reminder: The Premier League has officially approved the calendar for the 2026/27 season, which will start a week later than usual — the latest start date in competition history.
