Neo Maema gave Kaizer Chiefs’ interest in him less attention because his mind was made about where his future lied.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfield genius said he was made aware of interest from Naturena via his representatives but he was less keen because he wanted to continue his football outside South African borders.

Maema became a bit part player for Sundowns from last season and an exit was an inevitable.

Chiefs showed interest and it was expected that the left-footed player would trade Chloorkop for Naturena but instead he was unveiled by Tanzanian giants, Simba FC.

“I was aware [of the Chiefs’ interest] and it’s something that my agent also mentioned to me. I sat down with my family and I told them that the only thing that will help me now is actually a completely new environment,” Maema said on Soccer Beat Podcast.

“That was my decision, and the new environment was not going to be another club in South Africa. I think it has to be outside of South Africa if I find an offer.”
