Nemanja Matic could return to the English Premier League

Ipswich is in talks to sign former Manchester United and Chelsea star Nemanja Matic, who currently plays for Lyon in France's Ligue 1.

Kieran McKenna's team has already made several notable signings in January. Last week, the club secured the loan of defender Ben Godfrey from Atalanta and signed highly-rated winger Jayden Philogene from Aston Villa for £21 million.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, the Championship club plans to strengthen its midfield by signing the 36-year-old Matic. This season, the Serbian has played 13 matches for Lyon in Ligue 1.

It is worth recalling that Matic won two Premier League titles with Chelsea and played over 180 matches for Manchester United. In addition to Ipswich, clubs such as Napoli, Fiorentina, and Como are also interested in the player.
