Cesc Fàbregas and Nemanja Matić were pivotal figures in Chelsea’s title-winning team a decade ago, but now the latter might become a player under the management of the former.
Details: According to Football Italia, the Spanish coach, now managing Italian side Como, is keen on signing the Serbian midfielder. Moreover, the offer for the 36-year-old defensive midfielder includes a post-playing role within the club.
It’s reported that Matić is open to joining Como, but the parties need to finalize the financial terms of his stay by Lake Como.
Reminder: Another former teammate of Matić, Raphael Varane, who played alongside him at Manchester United, also joined Como. However, Varane decided to retire in the fall of 2024 after a series of injuries.
